Let’s talk analogies for a second . . .
Generally, a mechanic offers a service that you need, but you either can’t do yourself or you don’t have the time to do it. So, you hire them to help you just as you would a accountant or a graphic designer or even a plumber. I feel the same way about cooking. Cooking is an incredibly valuable skill that is directly related to how close or far you are from your healthiest and happiest self. It is something that needs to be addressed daily and your family depends on it!
Hiring a personal chef to take all or some of the burden off of this daily task may benefit you in more ways then you’ll realize, and it’s less expensive than you think!
5 Reasons to Hire a Personal Chef
1.) Preventative Health Insurance. Most personal chefs such as myself are health conscious and educated in healing foods. For this reason, we cook meals with simple but flavorful ingredients that will also add to your well being. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of answering “What is healthy?” for you and your family and can always be customized and highly supported to your specific dietary needs.
2.) You will spend less on groceries. Since the job of most personal chefs is to grocery shop FOR you, you are less likely to buy items that wouldn’t have been on your list. This is good because most of those items tend to be processed snacks or even food that doesn’t have a plan and ends up going in the trash along with the money you’ve spent on it. The average American throws away over $650 in food per year if not more!
3.) You will be exposed to new foods and flavors. Very often, we get in food ruts where we tend to eat the same things over and over but don’t know quite how to try new things. A personal chef will have plenty of recipe ideas and may cook something for you and your family that you may have otherwise never tried before. This can open your mind further to other foods, flavors and cuisines or even get your kids to eat more vegetables.
4.) It’s not as expensive as it used to be. Hiring a chef used to be something reserved for the highly wealthy, but not anymore! Generally, the price will work out to be cheaper than delivery services like Blue Apron or Hello Fresh, but you don’t have to cook them! Between the money you spend buying snacks, coffee, dining out, food waste and your precious time, the cost of a personal chef is well worth it.
5.) Reclaim up to 15 hours a week of free time. 3 meals a day for one week for one person is 21 meals! Meal planning, shopping, cooking, and cleaning all take up a bigger part of your day than you think. It’s no surprise that a lot of us choose to spend more money on processed convenience foods because it saves us TIME. Time is a valuable resource more than ever and the time you’ll reclaim from hiring a personal chef as well as the energy you will gain from healthier eating will boost your quality of life!
