Equipment

  • Air Fryer or Ninja Foodi

Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon fillet skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes

Blackened Seasoning

Instructions

  • Prep the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. If your air fryer requires preheating, let it run for about 3-5 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Cut the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps the seasoning stick better and ensures a crispy crust. Use a sharp knife to cut the salmon into 1-inch bite-sized pieces, removing any pin bones if needed.
  • Season the Salmon: In a large mixing bowl, combine the blackened seasoning blend: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Drizzle the salmon bites with a small amount of oil and toss them in the seasoning mix until evenly coated. Let them sit for a couple of minutes to allow the flavors to absorb.
  • Arrange in the Air Fryer: Place the seasoned salmon bites in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t overcrowded. If necessary, cook in batches.
  • Cook the Salmon: Air fry at 400°F for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to cook evenly. The salmon should have a crispy blackened crust on the outside while remaining tender and flaky on the inside. Use a fork to gently flake a piece of salmon. If it easily separates and is opaque throughout, it’s ready.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the salmon bites to a plate and let them rest for a minute. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, over a salad, or in a grain bowl for a quick meal.
