bone in ribeye sliced

A bone in ribeye, also known as a standing rib roast, is a cut of beef that has the rib bones still attached. The ribs add flavor to the steak and can be cooked with or without them.

Using the air fryer is the best way to cook a ribeye with the bone for many reasons! First, it helps to lock in the steak’s juices and flavors by cooking it quickly but evenly. Second, since the air fryer is designed to circulate hot air around the food, this results in a crispy crust on the outside while still keeping the center juicy and tender. Third, you can easily adjust the cooking time to get the perfect doneness of your steak.

🍖Ingredients and Tools

  • Thick Bone In Ribeye – You’ll need a steak that is 1.5-2 inches thick. This will ensure that it doesn’t get cooked too quickly and will form a nice crust on the outside.
  • Salt – This not only draws excess moisture off of the sides, it enhances the natural flavor of beef.
  • Air Fryer or Ninja Foodi – Any air fryer will work for this recipe, but I recommend a Ninja Foodi for the best results.
  • Tongs – You’ll need tongs to handle the ribeye in the air fryer without burning your hands.

📖How To Make Bone In Ribeye In Air Fryer

1️⃣Prepare the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer or Ninja Foodi to 400°F (190°C).

2️⃣Salt the ribeye: Pat the ribeye dry completely with paper towels. Generously salt both sides.

3️⃣Air fry ribeye: Place the ribeye in the air fryer using tongs. Cook for 8 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 8 minutes or until the desired temperature is reached.

4️⃣Rest and serve: Remove the steak from the air fryer or Ninja Foodi and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Best Time And Temperature For Air Fryer Ribeye

The time it takes to cook a ribeye in the air fryer depends on the thickness of the steak as well as the strength of your air fryer. You may need to adjust the cooking time based on your preferences. Use a kitchen thermometer for best results.

  • Rare Ribeye – Cook for 6 minutes on each side at 400°F (190°C).
  • Medium Rare Ribeye – Cook for 8 minutes on each side, at 400°F (190°C).
  • Medium Ribeye – Cook for 10 minutes on each side at 400°F (190°C).
  • Well Done Ribeye – Cook for 12 minutes on each side at 400°F (190°C).

👩‍🍳Chef’s Tips

  • Preheat your air fryer or Ninja Foodi before adding the ribeye to ensure even cooking.
  • Leave the steaks out at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to allow the steak to come to a temperature. This will help ensure the meat stays tender.
  • Use thick-cut steak for the best results. Thinly cut beef will cook too quickly and end up dry.
  • Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before serving for maximum juiciness.
