As a certified American-Italian girl, I love a good garlic knot! Growing up, we would get them at New Jersey Pizza restaurants with our meals. But now that I live in Virginia, a good New York style pizza place is hard to find.

These days, I use the air fryer to make garlic knots because it uses dry circulating heat to create a crispy crust on the outside of the bread while keeping the inside tender, pillowy, and fluffy.

Instead of making my own, I use store-bought frozen garlic knots I find at the grocery store, like New York Bakery brand or even Great Value brand from Walmart. In less than 15 minutes, you can have a perfectly cooked garlic knot cooked right from frozen without thawing or defrosting! 

📖How To Cook Frozen Garlic Knots In Air Fryer

1️⃣Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and preheat for 3-5 minutes.

2️⃣Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the garlic knots in a single layer in the Ninja Foodi or air fryer basket. Make sure they are not touching. You may need to cook in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.

3️⃣Air fry frozen garlic knots: Air fry the garlic knots for 5-6 minutes. Then, open the air fryer, flip the garlic knots, and cook for another 5-6 minutes or until they are golden brown and heated through. How long to cook frozen garlic knots in air fryer may vary depending on the air fryer model and the size of the garlic knots.

4️⃣Add Optional Toppings: Once finished, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes over the hot garlic knots. Enjoy! 

👩‍🍳How do you make store-bought Garlic Knots better?

  • Brush with Butter: Melt some butter and brush it over the knots before and after baking. This adds richness and a beautiful glossy finish.
  • Add Herbs: Sprinkle some fresh or dried herbs such as parsley, basil, or oregano over the knots before baking. 
  • Serve with Dipping Sauces: Offer a variety of dipping sauces like marinara, alfredo, ranch, or garlic butter sauce to dip the garlic knots in. 
  • With Fresh Garlic: Mince fresh garlic and mix it with melted butter, then brush this mixture over the knots. It gives a more intense and fresher garlic flavor compared to the pre-packaged seasoning.
  • Cheese Topping: Sprinkle grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese over the knots before baking. 
  • Spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the knots for a spicy kick. This works especially well if you love a little heat with your garlic bread.
  • Add Seeds: Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on the knots before baking for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
  • Balsamic Glaze Drizzle: After baking, drizzle a balsamic glaze over the knots for a sweet and tangy contrast to the savory garlic.
