frozen shrimp in air fryer

If you haven’t used your air fryer to cook frozen foods, you’re missing out on a valuable opportunity to get healthy food on the table fast!

Since the air fryer is basically a small convection oven, it means that dry heat is circulating around the food constantly giving the outside a crust which keeps the inside tender.

With the air fryer, you can make perfectly cooked shrimp without defrosting it! This method is great if you need shrimp for a seafood dish, or you can quickly make a shrimp cocktail platter in just 10 minutes or less!

🍤Ingredients & Equipment

Frozen Raw Shrimp – You’ll need a bag of frozen shrimp to use this method. I use raw frozen shrimp with the peel on because I feel like it keeps the shrimp tender and locks in the flavor. You can choose any size you enjoy. Check out the guide for time and temperature below.

Air Fryer – There are so many air fryers to choose from these days. I enjoy using my Ninja Foodi because I think it’s the absolute best. I enjoy using my all-in-one air fryer and pressure cooker because it saves time and there saves valuable counter space.

📖How To Air Fry Frozen Shrimp

Preheat the air fryer. Since you are thawing AND cooking the shrimp during this process, it’s best if you start with a preheated air fryer. Turn your air fryer to 400F and preheat for 3-5 minutes.

Air Fry Shrimp. Place frozen shrimp on the bottom of your air fryer basket in a single layer. Set the timer for 10 minutes. At the 5 minute mark, flip using tongs or a spatula. Cook for another 5 minutes and check to see if they are cooked through. If they aren’t, cook for another 2-5 minutes or until shrimp is no longer opaque. Cooking time depends on the size of your shrimp.
