Air Fryer T Bone Steaks
Learn how to make Air Fryer T Bone Steaks with the help of your air fryer or Ninja Foodi! Enjoy a thick, juicy steak that is full of flavor and ready in 15 minutes and can be paired with your favorite side dishes!
A T Bone steak is a cut of beef that includes a “T-shaped” bone separating two cuts of meat. Unlike filet mignon, porterhouse, or new york strip, it consists of a larger top loin section and a smaller tenderloin portion. This cut is known for its full flavor profile and juicy texture, making it a popular choice for steak lovers everywhere.
The T Bone steak is one of the most popular cuts among restaurant-goers and home cooks alike due to its versatility in cookery. It can be grilled, pan-seared, or even cooked in an air fryer with great results!
Using the air fryer is the best method for cooking steak for many reasons! First, it helps to lock in the steak’s juices and flavors by cooking it quickly but evenly. Second, since the air fryer is designed to circulate hot air around the food, this easy air fryer steak recipe results in a crispy crust on the outside while still keeping the center juicy and tender. Third, you can easily adjust the cooking time to get the perfect doneness of your steak.
🧂Ingredients and Tools
- Thick T-Bone Steak – You’ll need a steak that is 1.5-2 inches thick. This will ensure that it doesn’t get cooked too quickly and will form a nice crust on the outside.
- Salt – This not only draws excess moisture off of the sides, but it also enhances the natural flavor of beef.
- Air Fryer or Ninja Foodi – Any air fryer will work for this recipe, but I recommend a Ninja Foodi for the best results.
- Tongs – You’ll need tongs to handle the ribeye in the air fryer without burning your hands.
- Seasonings – If desired, sprinkle kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder black pepper, or paprika on the steak for seasoning.
📖How To Make T Bone Steak In Air Fryer
1️⃣Let the steak rest: Remove the steak from the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before cooking for the best texture results.
2️⃣Prepare the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer or Ninja Foodi to 400°F (190°C).
3️⃣Salt the steak: Pat the steak dry completely with paper towels. Generously salt both sides.
4️⃣Air fry T bone: Place the steak in the air fryer using tongs. Cook for 8 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 8 minutes or until the desired temperature is reached.
5️⃣Rest and serve: Remove the cooked t-bone steak from the air fryer or Ninja Foodi and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving with garlic herb butter, potatoes or a green salad. Enjoy!
⏲Best Time And Temperature For Air Frying T-Bone
The time it takes to cook a ribeye in the air fryer depends on the thickness of the steak as well as the strength of your air fryer. You may need to adjust the cooking time based on your preferences. Use a meat thermometer for best results.
Steak Doneness | Cook Time (per side) | Temperature |
---|---|---|
Rare | 6 minutes | 400°F (190°C) |
Medium Rare | 8 minutes | 400°F (190°C) |

👩🍳Chef’s Tips
- Preheat your air fryer or Ninja Foodi before adding the steak to ensure even cooking.
- Leave the steaks out at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to allow the steak to come to a temperature. This will help ensure the meat stays tender.
- Use thick-cut steak for the best results. Thinly cut beef will cook too quickly and end up dry.
- Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before serving for maximum juiciness.
- Brush with olive oil for an even crispier crust.
- Store leftover steak in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer.
