Making frozen appetizers in your air fryer is one of the fastest ways to get food with a perfect texture on the table fast! It’s a great method to use when you have guests coming over or if you need a quick snack.

Normally potstickers are cooked in a moist heat giving them a soft pasta-like texture on the outside. When you cook them in the air fryer, the outside gets crispy and the inside stays warm and tender making them the perfect party food.

🥟Potstickers, Dumplings, and Gyoza

Although a potsticker can be called a dumpling or gyoza, you’ll find that they are all relatively the same. A soft dough wraps up a vegetable or meat filling and is crimped together in a half moon shape thats ready for cooking. No matter what your preference is, they can all be air fried the same way.

🔥Ingredients & Equipment

Frozen Potstickers – You can find potstickers, gyoza, or dumplings in the frozen appetizer section of the grocery store. We like using Tai Pei, Ling Ling, or Bibigo, but have used other brands as well.

Cooking Oil – Potstickers are one of the very rare appetizers that benefit from a light coating of cooking oil before air frying to get a super crispy texture that is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My favorite oil to use in the air fryer is avocado oil.

Air Fryer – There are so many air fryers to choose from these days. I enjoy using my Ninja Foodi because I think it’s the absolute best. I enjoy using my all-in-one air fryer and pressure cooker because it saves time and there saves valuable counter space.

📖How To Air Fry Frozen Potstickers

Preheat the air fryer. When cooking frozen foods, it’s a good idea to get your air fryer started by preheating for 3-5 minutes. 400 degrees F seems to be the perfect temperature to air fry frozen dumplings, potstickers, or gyoza.

Coat them in oil: Add the frozen potstickers to a large bowl, and drizzle with cooking oil. Give them a toss with tongs until they are all coated. You can also use cooking spray to evenly coat them easier.

Air Fry Potstickers. Place oil coated potstickers in the bottom of the preheated air fryer basket and set the timer for 10 minutes. At the halfway mark, flip with tongs. Remove cooked potstickers from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Best Time & Temperature To Air Fry Potstickers

The amount of time it takes to air fry a frozen potsticker depends on the size and how accurate your air fryer is. Generally a temperature of 400F is needed to thaw and crisp frozen dumplings in 10-12 minutes or less.

  • Small potstickers: 400F for 8-10 minutes.
  • Large potstickers: 400F for 10-12 minutes.
  • Raw dumplings, potstickers, or gyoza: 375F for 10-12 minutes.

Storing & Reheating

Storing Leftover Potstickers: Leftover air fried potstickers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

Reheating: To reheat cooked potstickers, place in a preheated air fryer at 325 for 6-8 minutes or until warmed through and crispy.

FAQ

Should I spray the basket with oil when using my air fryer?

No need! The air fryer circulates dry heat which eliminates the need for excess oil.

What temperature do you air fry frozen potstickers, dumplings, or gyoza?

I generally start at 400F and adjust the minutes depending on the size. For large sized dumplings, you can start with a temperature of 375F to prevent it from burning.
