Can you reheat chicken parm? Yes, chicken parm can easily be reheated using three different methods to make it good as new. Don’t let your leftovers go to waste!

Chicken Parmesan, also known as Chicken Parmigiana, is a mouthwatering Italian-American dish that combines breaded chicken breast cutlets with marinara sauce and melted cheese. The crispy and golden breaded exterior pairs perfectly with the tangy and savory flavors of the tomato sauce, garlic, and gooey melted parmesan cheese (or provolone cheese) on top.

Reheating chicken Parmesan is a fantastic idea, especially when you find yourself with leftovers from your favorite restaurant like Olive Garden or Maggiano’s or when you’ve made a batch at home with a homemade chicken parmesan recipe. Don’t let them just sit in your fridge or freezer! Reheat to make a chicken parm sandwiches, or serve with pasta for a renewed meal with the best taste.

💫The Best Way To Reheat Chicken Parmesan

While there are three easy methods for reheating chicken parmesan, reheating chicken parmesan in air fryer or Ninja Foodi is the best. This method uses dry circulating heat to evenly cook around the chicken, which will make it nice and crispy on the outside while keeping the inside warm and tender. It will also help melt the cheese and cook quickly!

Second to the air fryer, the oven (not the stovetop) is the next best reheating method because it will evenly reheat the chicken though it may not be as crispy. Reheating chicken parm in the microwave is my least favorite method. Although it does the job, it does not achieve a crispy exterior though it is the fastest! Choose your favorite reheating method based on the time you have and the level of texture you’d like to achieve for the best results!

📖How To Reheat Chicken Parm In Air Fryer

1️⃣Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.

2️⃣Place the chicken Parmesan in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If your chicken is thick, it will take longer to cook, which can burn the cheese. Wrap in aluminum foil for the first half of the cooking time if necessary to prevent the cheese from burning.

3️⃣Cook the chicken Parmesan in the air fryer for about 6-8 minutes or until the chicken is fully warmed through, the outside is crispy, and the cheese is melted.

4️⃣Once heated, remove it from the air fryer with tongs, and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Note: How long it takes to reheat chicken parm in the air fryer depends on how thick and large the pieces of chicken are. Start with 6-8 minutes and add additional cooking time if needed.

📖How To Reheat Chicken Parmesan In The Oven

1️⃣Preheat your oven to a medium heat of 350°F (175°C).

2️⃣Place the chicken Parmesan on a baking sheet or in an oven-safe dish, pan, or skillet.

3️⃣Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the chicken is heated through. Add 5-8 minutes of baking time if you have thick pieces of chicken.

4️⃣Once heated, remove from the oven, and let it cool for a few minutes before serving

📖How To Reheat Chicken Parmesan In The Microwave

1️⃣Place the leftover chicken Parmesan on a microwave-safe plate.

2️⃣Cover the plate with a microwave-safe lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap to retain moisture.

3️⃣Microwave on medium-high power for 90 seconds.

4️⃣Carefully remove the plate from the microwave and check the temperature of the chicken. If needed, continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until the desired temperature is reached.

5️⃣Let it rest for a minute or two before serving.

👩‍🍳Chef’s Tips

  • Preserve the Crispy Coating: To maintain the crispy coating of the chicken, avoid using the microwave, as it can make the breading soggy. Instead, opt for reheating methods like the oven or air fryer, which will help retain the desirable crunch.
  • Use Aluminum Foil: When reheating chicken Parmesan in the oven, cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the cheese from burning or drying out if your pieces of chicken are on the thicker side. This will ensure that the cheese melts evenly while keeping the chicken moist.
  • Reheat in Small Portions: If you have a large quantity of leftover chicken Parmesan, it’s best to reheat it in smaller portions. This will allow for more even heating, preventing some pieces from becoming overcooked while others remain cold.
  • Monitor the Temperature: Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. Reheated chicken Parmesan should reach an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C) to ensure it is thoroughly heated and safe to consume.
  • Let it Rest: After reheating, allow the chicken Parmesan to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the flavors to settle and the cheese to set, ensuring a more enjoyable eating experience.
  • How long to reheat chicken parm in air fryer: This will depend on how big the serving is and how big your air fryer is. Generally, you can reheat chicken parmesan in air fryer in less than 10 minutes.
