Once a week, we eat burgers and hot dogs for dinner. It’s a great way for this busy home chef to take a little break from cooking. I often make more burgers than we eat, so we have leftovers for the next day. This family loves burger leftovers because they can be reheated in the air fryer so they taste just like they came off the grill. This reheating method also works well with fast food burgers and cheeseburgers!

Should I air fry a leftover burger? Yes! Discovering how to reheat a burger in an air fryer can be a game-changer for savoring leftovers. When you reheat a hamburger in an air fryer, you’re embracing a method that circulates extremely hot air, mimicking the effects of grilling or baking without the hassle. This approach ensures your reheated burger retains the perfect texture and flavor and is much better than reheating a burger in the microwave.

Using an air fryer to reheat burgers not only enhances flavor and texture but also promotes a healthier meal, reducing the extra grease by cooking off some of the excess fats. So, the next time you’re reheating burgers in an air fryer, know that it’s the optimal way to recapture the best parts of it!

🍔Ingredients and Equipment

  • Air Fryer – You can use any air fryer you have to reheat a burger in the air fryer, but we love using the Ninja Foodi because it’s super versatile and reliable.
  • Cooked Hamburger Patties – These refrigerated patties could be left over from a cookout or from a restaurant or fast food joint. No matter where they’re from, you can enjoy them like new.
  • Spatula – The air fryer is small but mighty! You’ll need a spatula to properly add and remove the burger patties from the air fryer basket or tray.

🔥How To Reheat Burger In Air Fryer

1️⃣Preheat the air fryer: Turn the air fryer to a temperature of 375F and let it preheat for 3-5 minutes.

2️⃣Add the cooked burgers: You can add the cooked burger patties straight from the fridge to the bottom of the air fryer basket in a single layer with no overlapping.

3️⃣Air fry burgers: Set the timer for 5 minutes. At the 3-minute mark, flip the burger over and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until heated through.

4️⃣Remove and serve: Using your spatula, remove the burger from the air fryer and serve with your favorite burger toppings.

📊Air Fryer Burger Reheating Chart

How long to reheat burger in air fryer? This depends on the size and thickness of the burger. Whether your burger is from Mcdonald’s, Wendy’s, or Burger King or needs to be reheated with the bun, the air fryer does a great job at reheating hamburger patties so they retain their texture and flavor.

Burger TypeTempTimeNotes
Plain Hamburgers375°F 4-5 minFlip halfway through. Monitor to avoid overcooking.
Cheeseburgers375°F3-4 minCheese might melt further. Consider adding cheese after reheating if you prefer less melting.
Fast Food Burgers375°F 3-4 minThese are typically thinner and require less time.
Burgers with Bun350°F 3-4 minLower temperature prevents the bun from getting too hard.
Burgers with Fries375°F 5-6 minRemove burger midway, shake fries, then continue. Best to reheat separately for even results.

These are estimated guidelines. Start with the lower time limit and check the warmth of your burger, you can always add more time if necessary. Reheating should be done until the burger is warm throughout but not dried out.

👩🏻‍🍳Chef Val’s Cooking Tips

  • Don’t skip the preheating. This is key for getting that crispy exterior without overcooking the inside of your burger.
  • Try not to overcrowd the air fryer. Place burger patties in a single even layer without overlapping. You may need to reheat burgers in batches depending on how many you’re reheating and the size of your air fryer.
  • Add a little fat. If you want extra juicy burgers, try reheating your burgers with a little bit of butter or oil. This will help keep the burger moist on the inside while it reheats.
  • Reheat cheeseburgers in air fryer. If you’ve got leftover cheeseburgers, don’t worry – they reheat just as well! Simply place them in the air fryer for the same amount of time without flipping and you’ll have a delicious burger in no time.
  • Adjust for thickness. If you need to reheat a thick burger patty, or a quarter pounder you may want to turn down the temperature to 350F and cook for a few minutes longer to make sure the inside is warmed through without burning or drying out the outside.
