Growing up as an Italian girl on the Jersey shore, Cannoli’s were something we had at most holidays and the best part was always the cream!

💗Why You’ll Love Making Cannoli Cream

This is a no bake dessert which can be whipped up in under 15 minutes.

It tastes great without any shell and can be eaten with a spoon all by itself.

It’s a great dessert for those on keto and low carb lifestyles.

You can choose whatever sweetener you like to make this recipe.

No need to strain the ricotta which saves lots of time.

💭What Is A Cannoli?

A cannoli is a Sicilian Italian pastry that consists of a tube of fried pastry dough that is stuffed with a sweet ricotta based filling that has chocolate chips folded in.

💭What Does Cannoli Cream Taste Like?

Cannoli cream is a unique dessert because it is made of sweet soft Italian ricotta cheese but is studded with chocolate chips and has a hint of flavor from the nutmeg and cinnamon which gives it a gentle kick of spice that complements this low carb dessert really well.

🍨Keto Cannoli Cream Ingredients

Ricotta Cheese: this creamy Italian cheese is the base of the recipe

Heavy Whipping Cream: a small amount makes this dessert fluffy enough to eat with a spoon

Cinnamon & Nutmeg: a pinch of these two spices help bring out that Italian pastry flavor

Low Carb Chocolate Chips: I use Lily’s low carb chocolate chips that are sweetened with stevia to add a sweet chocolate crunch

Zero Calorie Granulated Sweetener: makes this dessert sugar free and makes this recipe low carb and keto friendly

📖How To Make Cannoli Cream

👩🏻‍🍳Chef’s Tips

No Ricotta? Can I Make Cannoli Filling With Cream Cheese Or Mascarpone? You can use these to make cannoli cream, just replace the amount of heavy whipping cream with cream cheese or mascarpone. Be aware that the taste of this recipe may change to one that is a bit more tangy due to the flavor of these cheeses.

Do I Need To Strain The Ricotta Cheese? If you are using this cream to fill cannoli shells, then yes! However this recipe is meant to be eaten like a mousse or ice cream so it does not need to be strained

Can I Freeze Cannoli Cream? Since there is a higher water content in ricotta and you’ll be using whipped cream, the texture will not be the same once it’s frozen and thawed out.

How Long Does Cannoli Cream Last? This dessert will last up to 7 days in an airtight container.
