📖How To Make Keto Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

1️⃣ In a small bowl or cup, add 1 tbsp of your favorite peanut butter or nut butter. Microwave for 20-30 seconds to soften.

2️⃣ Stir in 1 tsp Keto powdered sugar (see brands below) and spread it out on the bottom of the bowl or cup.

3️⃣ Add 1 tbsp of keto chocolate chips on top and put back in the microwave for 20-30 second intervals or until chocolate on top is melted and able to be easily spread on top.

4️⃣ Using the back of a spoon, spread the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter.

5️⃣ Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes or until chocolate hardens before serving.

📝NOTE: If peanut butter gets mixed in with the chocolate too much, you can either chill the peanut butter in the fridge before melting the chocolate on top OR melt the chocolate in a separate bowl and pour it on top.

🥜Peanut Butter Cup Variations

  • Instead of peanut butter, use almond butter, cashew butter or even coconut butter.
  • Add some unsweetened coconut shreds to the chocolate.
  • Use dark chocolate, white chocolate or even butterscotch chips instead of milk chocolate.
  • Crush up some nuts and add to the chocolate.
  • Add some crushed plain pork rind breadcrumbs to the chocolate for a chocolate crunch peanut butter cup.
  • Add some flaky sea salt to the top before chilling in the fridge.
  • Add some sugar free raspberry jam.

🍫To Make A Non Keto Version

Simply use your favorite chocolate chips and some regular powdered sugar or confectioners sugar and make the recipe the exact same way.

👩🏻‍🍳Chef’s Tips & FAQ

Do I Need To Add Powdered Sugar? Since this is a mock peanut butter cup, the peanut butter needs to be a little bit dry and thicker and slightly sweetened and powdered sugar does the trick. It is not 100% necessary but it does turn this from just plain peanut butter and chocolate to that classic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup taste.

What’s The Best Keto Chocolate? This highly depends on your preference. I really like Lily’s Chocolate because they always have many different flavors but I also enjoy the budget friendly Bake Believe brand that can also be found at Walmart. Some people like to use unsweetened baking chocolate because it’s cheaper however you need to add sweetener to it which may end up being the same price.

What’s The Best Keto Sweetener or Sugar? There are many brands out there these days that have sweetener in different forms like brown sugar, granulated sugar and powdered sugar. I mostly use Swerve because I can find it in any grocery store but I also enjoy using Lakanto sugar as well.

What is a fat bomb? A fat bomb is something that was popularized on high fat keto diets. When starting this diet, it’s hard to get in your daily fat intake so fat bombs are small high fat morsels that you can eat to make sure you’re on track. They can be sweet or savory.

Is peanut butter ok for ketosis? Most peanut butter is about 3-4 net carbs per serving making it suitable in moderation. Make sure you check your labels as most peanut butter has added sugar if it is highly processed.

Can You Have Reese’s on Keto? Traditional Reese’s cups have too many carbs for keto however they do make Sugar Free Reese’s which are low in net carbs but don’t taste great.

Store Bought Keto Peanut Butter Cups: If you’d rather just buy them yourself, check out Lily’s Peanut Butter cups or the ones from Slimfast or Quest Nutrition.
