Sloppy joes were made famous in America in the early 20th century. It’s a meat mixture made with ground beef or pork that is cooked with peppers and onions  in a tomato sauce usually made from ketchup or Worcestershire and served on a hamburger bun.

This version of healthy sloppy joes is Whole30 compliant and makes some healthy ingredient substitute swaps that you won’t even be able to taste the difference!

🌶Ingredients For Sloppy Joes/

  • Ground Beef: I like using lean ground beef for my ground beef recipes, but feel free to use whatever type you like.
  • Chopped Bell Peppers, Onions and Garlic: These chopped veggies add flavor to the meat and sauce.
  • Whole30 or Paleo Ketchup: This ketchup gives the dish it’s sweet but tangy tomato sauce. You can find Whole30 Ketchup at most grocery stores or you can make your own
  • Crushed Tomatoes: Helps bring together all ingredients with tomato flavor.
  • Tomato Paste: Adds the perfect thickness to this dish.
  • Coconut Aminos: This is an alternative to soy-sauce or Worcestershire sauce that adds a salty umami flavor to whatever dish you’re making.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Just a tablespoon of ACV gives these sloppy joes a slightly sweet but tangy classic taste.
