This easy method for Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Patties turns a frozen breaded chicken burger into a tender and juicy part of lunch or dinner in just 10 minutes or less. Great for any air fryer or Ninja Foodi!
These days I am using my air fryer to make quick lunches that take little time. The best way to do this is by taking frozen meat patties, and cooking them right in the air fryer.
I love making chicken patties this way because they turn out super crispy on the outside while staying nice and tender on the inside.
Shouldn’t I just use the directions on the packaging?
Since the air fryer is a small convection oven, it uses dry heat to circulate air around the food making it cook fast. This means that the time and temperature may need slight variations when cooking for best results.
🤔Why make frozen chicken patties in the air fryer?
Less clean up. Frozen chicken patties are not really a messy food which means the only thing that will get dirty is your air fryer basket, and even then, it’s minimal!
Better texture. The texture of air fried chicken patties gets the breading nice and crispy while keeping the inside juicy making it the perfect chicken patty texture.
They cook faster. Since the dry hot air is circulating quickly around the food, the chicken patties will cook much faster than on the stovetop or from in the oven.
No babysitting. Using this method will free your hands to help cook other breakfast items or will give you time to get your family out the door. All you’ll need to do is flip once, but if you forget, they will still turn out delicious!
No thawing needed. You don’t need to remember to pull anything out of the freezer to defrost when using an air fryer recipe cooked right from frozen.
🥣What You’ll Need
Frozen Chicken Patties – You can use any frozen chicken patties you enjoy. We like using Aldi and Walmart brands but you can also use brands like Tyson, Applegate, or Perdue.
Air Fryer – While you can use any air fryer you have, I highly recommend the Ninja Foodi or Ninja Foodi Grill because I think it’s the absolute best. I enjoy using my all-in-one air fryer and pressure cooker because it saves time and there saves valuable counter space.
📖How To Air Fry Frozen Chicken Patties
1️⃣ Preheat the air fryer. There are some recipes that do well with preheating and some that don’t need it at all. This recipe benefits from preheating at 375F because it allows the chicken patties to thaw and then cook without burning or becoming soggy.
2️⃣ Air Fry The Frozen Chicken Patties. Add to the bottom of the air fryer basket and flip halfway in between its cooking time. Use tongs to remove and serve hot.
⏲Best Time & Temperature For Air Fryer Chicken Patties
The amount of time it takes to air fry a chicken patty depends on how thick the chicken burger is. These are general recommendations. The typical chicken patty needs about 8-12 minutes to cook at a temperature 375F depending on its thickness. Always check regularly within the last 5 minutes of cooking to ensure they don’t burn or overcook as every air fryer is different!
- ¼ inch thick – 7-8 minutes at 350F
- ½ inch thick – 8-10 minutes at 400F
- 1 inch thick -10-15 minutes at 400F (this is best for homemade frozen chicken burgers)
📝NOTE: If you like your chicken patties extra crispy, add 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.
♻Storing & Reheating
Storing: Air fried chicken patties will stay fresh in an airtight container for 3-4 for days in the fridge.
Reheating: You can reheat air fried chicken patties in the microwave or place them back in the air fryer for 5-7 minutes at 350 until heated through and crispy.
Nope! The beauty of airb frying is that the natural fats in the breading of the chicken will crisp up on it’s own due to dry circulating heat without the use of any excess oil.
When I use this method, I always start at 375F. If the chicken is not crispy enough, I will set it to 400F for the last few minutes and make sure they are flipped for even cooking.
This depends on the type of air fryer you have and where you’re putting the foil. I like to put the foil UNDER the basket to catch any excess oil or grease that comes off the chicken burger. This eliminates the need to clean the entire air fryer and you’ll just use the basket. If the foil is in a position where it can become loose, it may get sucked into the heating element when the air circulates so be sure it’s weighed down properly.
