There are many benefits to drinking a cup of bulletproof coffee during your Whole30 reset. Healthy fats coming from the ghee and coconut (or MCT oil) will keep you full and give you lasting energy.

The caffeine from the coffee in this drink gives you an energy boost, but without the jitters or crash later because the fat is helping it slowly absorb. It’s also full of beneficial nutrients like vitamin E and selenium.

You can also customize the flavor by using the list of Whole30 compliant add-ins below!

Ingredients

  • Brewed Coffee: coffee is a great way to get an energy boost in the morning. It’s also full of antioxidants which can help protect your cells from damage.
  • Ghee: Is clarified butter that has been cooked slowly until all the moisture and milk solids have evaporated, leaving behind high-quality butterfat that is perfect for Bulletproof coffee giving it healthy fats and a nutty buttery flavor. Purchase ghee at your local grocery store or make your own ghee at home.
  • MCT Oil: Is a natural oil that is derived from coconut oil. It’s metabolized differently than other types of fat, so it provides a quick and lasting energy source. You can also use coconut oil.

FAQ

What is the difference between ghee and butter?

Ghee is clarified butter that has been cooked slowly until all the moisture and milk solids have evaporated, leaving behind high-quality butterfat that is perfect for Bulletproof coffee giving it healthy fats and a nutty buttery flavor. Butter is made by churning cream or milk so it doesn’t contain the fatty acids that are found in clarified butter. It also contains small amounts of lactose and casein which can be problematic for some people.

How should I store my Whole30 bulletproof coffee?

Bulletproof coffee is best consumed immediately as the ghee and coconut oil can solidify when refrigerated. You can reheat it, but it may need to be blended again.

Can I use vanilla extract instead of vanilla bean powder?

Vanilla extract contains alcohol which is not Whole30 compliant. Vanilla bean powder is a great way to add flavor to your bulletproof coffee without adding any non-compliant ingredients. It’s also high in antioxidants.

Can I use another type of oil besides coconut oil or MCT oil?

You can use any type of natural, unsalted oil that you like in your bulletproof coffee. Some other good options are avocado oil, olive oil, and walnut oil, but this will affect the taste.
