There are so many foods out there that are so good for us that can sting going down.  Apple cider vinegar is one of those drinks that has incredible benefits if taken daily but it’s not easy to consume every morning!

When the ACV is diluted by a lot of liquid, it is easier to manage but who wants to drink an entire glass of faint tasting vinegar? I created this recipe for apple cider shots with vinegar to make this tolerable by making it taste like apple pie!

There are hints of cinnamon, vanilla and apple juice mixed in with the apple cider vinegar in shot form so you can get it all done in one . . . shot. 😉

An apple cider vinegar shot is a quick, small serving of apple cider vinegar, usually taken in one quick gulp. It’s a concentrated form of vinegar, which is created by fermenting apple sugars into acetic acid, the main active ingredient in vinegar. The “mother,” a collection of beneficial bacteria and yeast, is present in unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, which contributes to its health-promoting properties.

How to do apple cider vinegar shots: Apple cider vinegar is acidic and can be tough on teeth and the stomach, so some prefer to dilute it. The shot approach allows for a swift dose, which can be immediately followed by water or another beverage to mitigate the acidity.

Not only do you get to control the taste and the ingredients in these DIY apple cider vinegar shots, they are MUCH less expensive then buying them premade and take less than 5 minutes to prepare!

🍎Healthy Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Raw apple cider vinegar with the mother is a powerhouse when it comes to it’s health and nutritional benefits

  • It can help lower blood sugar levels, which is beneficial for those managing diabetes or looking to stabilize their blood sugar for energy regulation and overall health.
  • The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties, making it effective in killing harmful bacteria and potentially aiding in preventing infections.
  • Consuming apple cider vinegar boosts digestion by supporting the growth of healthy gut bacteria and encouraging the production of stomach acid, which can improve nutrient absorption and digestion.
  • Studies suggest that apple cider vinegar can contribute to lowering cholesterol levels, which is beneficial for heart health, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and weight loss.
  • Apple cider vinegar has been noted to help tame seasonal allergies by supporting the immune system, potentially reducing allergy symptoms helping with overall immunity.

🍏Ingredients

  • Raw Apple Cider Vinegar – Acts as the base of the shot, providing the potential health benefits associated with its acetic acid content, including digestive and blood sugar support. Braggs is the most popular and common and can be found in most grocery stores, but you can also find comparable brands. Just make sure it has “the mother”.
  • Organic Apple Juice – Adds natural sweetness and apple flavor to the shot, which helps mask the strong taste of the vinegar, making the shot more enjoyable to consume.
  • Ground Cinnamon – Contributes warm, spicy notes reminiscent of apple pie and may offer additional health benefits such as anti-inflammatory properties and blood sugar regulation.
  • Vanilla Extract – Imparts a sweet, aromatic flavor that complements the apple and cinnamon, enhancing the overall taste of the shot.
  • Stevia (or honey) – Serves as a natural sweetener alternative to refined sugars, reducing the acidic bite of the vinegar without adding extra calories (in the case of Stevia) or providing a richer flavor (if honey is used).

📖 How To Make Apple Cider Vinegar Shots

Since this elixir can be stored in the fridge, this recipe makes 4 2oz apple cider vinegar shots.

1️⃣ Add apple cider vinegar: Add four tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar to a 16 oz mason jar.

2️⃣ Add remaining ingredients: Add in 2 oz Apple Juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, stevia or honey.

3️⃣ Shake until combined: Put a lid on a mason jar and shake until all ingredients are combined.  It does take a couple of hours for cinnamon to fully dissolve into the liquid, so don’t be worried if it all stays on top at first.

4️⃣ Pour and enjoy: Pour 1.5-2 ounces of the apple cider vinegar wellness shot in the morning or before a meal. Enjoy!

Grate a teaspoon of fresh ginger into the shot for a sharp, piquant taste and the added benefit of ginger’s anti-inflammatory and digestive-aiding properties.
  • Turmeric Tonic: Stir in a 1/4 teaspoon of ground turmeric to benefit from its powerful anti-inflammatory effects and give the shot an earthy depth.
  • Berry Sweetness: Swap out apple juice for mixed berry juice to infuse the shot with antioxidants and a sweet-tart berry flavor.

  1. Another thing you can do is to drink it with water with a few table spoons as a tonic every morning. This helps to prevent acne breakouts, reduce infection and dry out inflammations. The only thing you need to be aware of is that it might not taste pleasant at all. Just try drinking it like water and you will be fine.
