🍵 Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Matcha Powder: Matcha powder is green tea leaves ground up that is steeped like tea. Not all matcha powder is the same so make sure you go for high quality matcha powder.
  • Dairy Free Milk: You could use almond, coconut, cashew or even soymilk.
  • Collagen Peptides: This is optional but adds a nutrient dense benefit to the latte.
  • Vanilla Extract or Vanilla Bean Powder: Vanilla compliments the flavors of matcha.
  • Water: You’ll need to boil some water to whisk the matcha into for it to be evenly distributed.
  • Sweetener: To sweeten this latte if you’re on a keto diet use Erythritol or monk fruit. For a Whole30 compliant matcha, omit any sweetener.

📖 How To Make An Iced Matcha Latte

1️⃣ Boil 1/2 cup of water.

2️⃣ Add boiling water and 2 tsp matcha powder into a high speed blender.

3️⃣ Add milk of choice (I use almond milk), collagen, sweetener and vanilla.

4️⃣ Blend for 15-20 seconds or until all ingredients are fully combined. Pour over ice.

🥑 Keto Iced Matcha Latte

Because this latte contains sugar free sweetener and dairy free milk is usually lower in carbs, this makes it a great option for those on a low carb or ketogenic diet.

👩🏻‍🍳 Chef’s Tips & Tricks

Make sure you are buying good quality matcha. This can be a little more expensive! Ceremonial grade or latte grade has been working well for me.  I usually get mine on Amazon or to be honest, I buy it at TJMAXX or Homegoods in their nifty little food section.

Matcha can get chunky if it’s not blended properly.  If you can, use a high speed blender for effortless smoothness.  If you can’t do that, then shaking your latte in a mason jar with ice will do the trick!

SWEETENER: For me, the best results for an iced matcha latte require some sweetness. You do not have to add sweetener at all if you want a whole30 matcha latte.  You could use honey, sugar, stevia or swerve for a keto iced matcha latte.

FAQ

What does matcha taste like?

This will be different for everyone but matcha is so different from other teas because instead of steeping the leaves of green tea, they are ground up to a fine powder then blended into hot liquid. To me, matcha has a slightly grassy yet sweet taste to it that just works together.

Is matcha better hot or cold?

This is 100% personal preference! For me I like the taste of iced matcha better because it’s less concentrated in flavor and the non dairy milk I add to it gives it a nice creamy boost.

Do I need to add collagen?

The answer is no.  I often try to add collagen and/or gelatin to whatever I can because I love the nutritional boost without the taste.  I will say though that adding a scoop of collagen peptides to my latte has made it super creamy and frothy which I personally love. Many people love using Vital Proteins collagen which can be found at most grocery stores and even at Costco.

Can you have Matcha on Whole30?

Yes! Plain matcha powder without any sugars or sweeteners is Whole30 compliant, just make sure you are using dairy free milk to make the latte.

Can you have Stevia on Whole30?

Stevia is not compliant with a Whole30 reset because it’s no sweetener is. The theory is that sweeteners keep your palate from craving natural foods and could possibly send you into a food binge cycle.
