Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps
Crispy, juicy chicken wrapped in a warm tortilla with fresh toppings and a creamy sauce, these Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps are the perfect balance of crunch and flavor! They come together fast with simple ingredients, making them an easy go-to meal using your air fryer or Ninja Foodi!

My family and I are getting to the point where my son is starting to have after-school activities. This means dinner needs to be quick, easy, and eaten in the car.
After talking with a friend about the snack wrap resurgence, popularized by McDonald’s, I decided to make my own at home one day using the air fryer! When you make your own from scratch, you can control the ingredients, the flavor, and even the size.
You’ll first start off making air fryer crispy chicken. This can be homemade, or your favorite frozen brand. Air fry the chicken until it’s perfectly crispy, then wrap it in your favorite tortilla and add dressings (I love ranch or Caesar!), cheese, veggies, or buffalo sauce. Anything goes!
Serve them with Coleslaw, Chickpea Feta Cucumber Salad, Air Fryer Garlic Butter Mushrooms, Green Chili Yellow Squash Casserole, or Crispy Air Fryer Tater Tots!
🍗Key Ingredients & Substitutions
- Chicken Strips – You can use any frozen breaded or grilled chicken here. I didn’t have strips on hand, but I did have the famous Aldi red bag chicken that I cut into pieces which worked beautifully. Tysons Southen Style Chicken Strips would also work along with homemade chicken strips or popcorn chicken. Or, use any leftover Crunchy Cracker Chicken! For this recipe I used Aldi red bag chicken.
- Shredded Lettuce – I’m not sure why, but shredded lettuce is needed to give this a classic snack wrap flavor and texture. Romaine just doesn’t do it, though it could work if you like it! I shredded my own iceberg lettuce.
- Ranch Dressing – Again, you can use your favorite ranch here but I will say that the tang of a good buttermilk ranch kicks it up a notch. Next time, I’m going to try using Blackened Ranch for a zesty flavor.
- Shredded Cheddar – Adds a sharp taste and a soft texture to contrast the crunchy chicken. You could use shredded pepper jack, Swiss, or gouda for a more creamy texture.
- Seasonings – If you have the right ranch dressing, you won’t need much seasoning, but a kick of black pepper does it for me!
- Flour Tortilla – A regular flour tortilla is typical for snack wraps, but I personally love using small pitas. They are more filling and hold the ingredients well.
📖How To Make Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps
1️⃣ Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer or Ninja to 400°F and let it preheat for about 3-5 minutes.
2️⃣ Cook the Frozen Crispy Chicken: Place the frozen crispy chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd it. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and heated through. The exact time may vary depending on the brand, so check the packaging.
3️⃣ Warm the Tortillas: While the chicken is cooking, warm the tortillas on a dry skillet over medium heat for about 20 seconds on each side or microwave them for 10-15 seconds. This makes them more pliable and easier to roll.
4️⃣ Prepare the Wrap Fillings: Slice tomatoes, shred lettuce, and gather any additional toppings like red onion, avocado, or shredded cheese. If using a sauce, such as ranch, honey mustard, or chipotle mayo, have it ready.
5️⃣ Assemble the Wraps: Place a warm tortilla on a clean surface and lay a crispy chicken strip in the center. Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, onions, and a drizzle of your favorite sauce.
6️⃣ Wrap It Up: Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll it tightly from the bottom up to secure the fillings. If needed, place the wraps seam-side down for a few seconds to help them stay closed. Enjoy!

🏠Using Homemade Chicken Cutlets
Start by slicing boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs into even strips. If using whole pieces, lightly pound them to an even thickness. Next, set up a breading station by whisking together eggs and a splash of water in one shallow bowl, and in another, breadcrumbs. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then press it firmly into the breadcrumb mixture on all sides. For extra crunch, press the coating onto the chicken before setting it aside. Place the breaded chicken in a single layer in the air fryer and cook until the internal temperature reads 165F flipping halfway.

Yes! Air fry frozen crispy chicken at 400°F for 10-18 minutes, flipping halfway, until heated through and crispy. This will depend on the type of chicken you use. Then assemble the wraps as usual with your favorite toppings and sauce.
To maintain crispiness, let the cooked chicken rest for a minute before assembling to prevent steam buildup. Also, avoid overloading the wrap with wet ingredients like too much sauce or juicy veggies.
Flour tortillas are the most flexible and easy to roll, but you can also use whole wheat, spinach, low-carb, or gluten-free tortillas. If using a thicker wrap, warm it slightly before rolling to prevent cracking.
