Red potatoes are slightly different from most potatoes. They have a waxy texture rather than a starchy one. They are therefore fantastic in salads, soups, roasting, boiling, or air frying!

Why the air fryer is the best way to cook red potatoes?

  • This is the ideal way to swap unhealthy deep-fried French fries with healthier ones because it uses very little oil in the cooking process. So it is a great way to avoid adding unhealthy amounts of oil to your diet.
  • Air fryers cook the potatoes by circulating hot air and heat, which helps to both cook and crisp them.
  • Air fryers typically cook at temperatures as high as 400°F/200°C. Some air fryers can even cook at higher temperatures. That makes preparing food quickly and easily while serving a crowd simple.
  • They’re vegan, dairy-free, and can be seasoned many different ways.
  • You’ll only need a few easy-to-locate ingredients and about 20 minutes for this easy air fryer recipe.
  • No need to soak in water beforehand.

🥔Ingredients You’ll Need

This red potatoes recipe needs a few simple ingredients that can be changed to your liking:

  • Red Potatoes: You can find red potatoes in most grocery stores in the root vegetable section. They are small, round, and have a thin red skin. You will want to look for ones that are about the same size so they cook evenly. You can also use red baby potatoes.
  • Avocado Oil: I used avocado oil because of its numerous health benefits. You can use any oil or a pat of melted butter.
  • Sea Salt: Though you can use any natural salt, I prefer to use sea salt.
  • Black Pepper: For adding the perfect heat and aroma.
  • Garlic Powder:Use to give potatoes a rich garlicky flavor.
  • Dried Parsley: The flavor and color of red potatoes is enhanced by adding parsley.

🔥How To Make Red Potatoes In The Air Fryer

1️⃣Preheat the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375F for 3-5 minutes.

2️⃣Prepare the potatoes: While the air fryer is preheating, wash the potatoes and chop them into 1.5-inch pieces. Place the potatoes in a large bowl along with the oil and dried seasonings. Toss to combine fully.

3️⃣Air fry the potatoes: Add the potatoes to the bottom of the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway or until the potatoes are fully cooked through.

4️⃣Serve: Remove the roasted potatoes with tongs. Serve hot with a drizzle of olive oil or sprinkle with rosemary, thyme, or your favorite herbs.

👩🏻‍🍳Air Frying Tips

  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly before cooking.
  • Before cooking, preheat your air fryer. Doing this will ensure that the food cooks evenly on the outside without overcooking the inside.
  • Leave the small potatoes whole, but chop the rest into halves or quarters so that they are all the same size to cook evenly.
  • To avoid food sticking to the air fryer basket, grease it with cooking spray.
  • Stir or toss at the halfway point of the cooking time.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer and keep potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket or the potatoes will be mushy and less crispy.
  • Check for doneness with a fork insertion. They are prepared if it is easy to insert.
