🥧 What You’ll Need
- Air Fryer or Ninja Foodi: Any air fryer will work for this recipe. I love the Ninja Foodi because it’s convenient and is an all-in-one product.
- Frozen Chicken Pot Pie: You’ll need a personal-sized frozen chicken pot pie. You can find these in the frozen entree section at the grocery store. Popular brands include Banquet, Marie Callendar’s, Mrs. Budd’s, and other store brands like Aldi and Great Value from Walmart. These chicken pot pies are usually 7-10 ounces in size.
♨️ Air Fryer Instructions
Preheat the air fryer: Turn your air fryer to 350F and let it preheat for 5 minutes. This will help start the thawing and cooking process immediately.
Create holes for steam: If possible, poke about 4-5 small holes using the tip of a sharp knife in the top of the chicken pot pie. This will allow steam to escape and cook the inside evenly.
Cover with foil: Cover the top with a light layer of aluminum foil. This will help prevent the crust from burning and will also help cook the inside.
Cook the chicken pot pie: Add the foil-covered chicken pot pie to the preheated air fryer and set the time for 20 minutes. Halfway through, use tongs to remove the foil and discard. Cook the rest of the way until golden brown and warmed through on the inside.
Let cool and serve: The chicken pot pie will be very hot once removed. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
👩🏻🍳 Air Frying Tips & Tricks
- Before serving, you can let it cool faster by opening the top of the crust to let even more steam escape.
- While preheating isn’t always necessary when air frying food, it helps when cooking frozen food to speed up the thawing and cooking process.
- If you air fry frozen food often, it’s a good idea to buy an air fryer with a temperature probe. This will help ensure that your food is cooked evenly all the way through without over-cooking or burning any edges.
- These cooking times and temperatures are based on a frozen chicken pot pie that is 7-10 ounces. Chicken pot pie that is larger in size will need more cooking time.
- You can use this method when making a turkey pot pie or a beef pot pie that is also frozen. This also works for individually sized sweet pies like apple or cherry.
- Always use the proper tools such as tongs or a spatula to handle the food as the chicken pot pie will be very hot.
